THOUGHTS AFTER READING: 1 Samuel 11-15 and John 1-2

Who better to rule and reign in my life than God? I cannot ever think that my way is better. I cannot be impatient. I can’t make things happen or manipulate circumstances. What God has declared He will do is not based on my schedule. I must wait on Him. His purposes will be accomplished whether I cooperate or not. David was anointed while Saul was still king. I cannot ever get complacent, arrogant or comfortable. I must do the will of God. One unwise decision not only impacts me, but those around me. I have to operate only in the authority God gives. Attempting to please people is useless and tiring. Disobedience leads to constant trouble and confusion. If I expect favor from God, if I expect Him to be with me, my answer to him should always be yes.
John pointed others to Jesus- period. That should be the aim of all that we do. John’s timing was according to the will of God. Mary’s was another story. I’m sure she was proud of her son, but his first miracle was not to be some magic trick done to keep the party going…How do we regard the men and women of God and the gifts that God has given them? Are we seeking rituals and shows or praying for true miracles?
