AI is a tool that will only generate what you ask of it.
It won’t, however, be an honest, good friend, and tell you that your event flyers are severely overcrowded, jumbled, convoluted, visually repellent examples of sensory overload. It’ll just let you go out like that…looking crazy.
Some flyers, at first glance, appear to be obituaries, as opposed to birthday announcements, or party invitations. It’s unnerving. Others are so chock full of competing stuff, that they are design nightmares, that cannot be fully appreciated, unless they are large format—like a poster…or a billboard.
Viewers, using phones, are desperately looking for a few things, that should be prominent: WHAT, WHEN, WHERE, WHAT TIME, and COST.
Instead, they are forced to weed through cartoonish, airbrushed pictures, clashing colors, swirls, twirls, and umpteen different fonts, and font sizes. Unreadable type, and busy graphics are reasons to give up, save your nerves, and keep scrolling.
That’s why, even though you posted it, you’re still getting calls and texts from interested people, asking about details. They aren’t going back to look at your page, and you can’t make them. Don’t get mad. People aren’t being lazy. They CAN read. They really DO want to come and support. They’re just exhausted from scouring all over the place for the address! WHY is IT so microscopic, and all of that unnecessary information SO gigantic?
It’s not supposed to be a seizure-inducing maze. It’s not a problem to solve. It’s not an obstacle course, or a puzzle. it’s a flyer. It should effectively communicate, not violently overwhelm.
Sure. Use AI, but scale back.
Make it sleek.
Keep it simple.
Less is more.
