SUNDAY EATS

SUNDAY DETAILS

SUNDAY THOUGHTS

“Nobody’s perfect, Baby. Nobody’s got it all together. Everybody has faults and makes mistakes—and they’re lying if they say they don’t. If we all waited until we thought we were perfect, and worthy, to share our gifts and talents, nobody would be doing anything.”

~Richard L. Smallwood

SUNDAY THOUGHTS

Don’t be so eager to fit in with others, no matter how important they seem, that you lend yourself to the attempted destruction of another person’s reputation, or the downfall of an organization, community, or group.

Think for yourself.

Get to know others for yourself.

Stay out of mess.

Beware of those who will boldly erect a house within an existing house—arrogantly using the infrastructure OF that house. Tragically, they forget that, anything with two heads, is a monster, and that a house divided against itself, cannot, and WILL not stand.

Endeavor to be on the side of righteousness and fairness.

Think for yourself!

Trust your discernment. You know what you see.

Don’t doubt what your gut is telling you.

Be careful about hopping onto bandwagons, especially those of bitter people.

Don’t hitch your good reputation to that of a talebearer.

Be mindful of those who would rather destroy a thing, than help others keep it viable.

Use that caller ID to weed out drama. You already know why they’re calling.

Reserve judgement about everything, until all of the facts are known.

Stay out of other people’s business.

Put down that cross. It’s not yours.

Realize when people want compliant allies and flunkies, more than righteous truth tellers, and independent thinkers.

Preserve your peace.

Be about business, not busyness. There’s a difference.

Address nonsense immediately. If need be, do it publicly. In the words of the great philosopher, Barney Fife, “Nip it, nip it, nip it!”.

Remember that the principle of sowing and reaping is not merely a financial one.

Be careful how you treat others. You may need them one day.

Consider that some people thrive on confusion and discord. You don’t have to join them.

Instigators always throw rocks and hide their hands. Stop protecting them. Name them.

Never treat people like pawns or property.

Avoid the cliquish behavior of the entitled.

Notice those who hoard, or lay claim to what rightfully belongs to everyone.

Don’t become the scapegoat for a self-serving manipulative individual.

If you’re going to do it, let it be your idea.

If you stay out of messy schemes, you won’t look like an idiot when they backfire.

Enthusiastically applaud and welcome excellence.

Recognize when an accusation is a confession.

Foster unity, not division.

Remember: A dog who will bring a bone, will carry one.

Never hesitate or fear asking pertinent questions about anything concerning you. Your input matters.

Don’t fall for gossip or backbiting, no matter who’s doing it.

Beware of those who desire titles and positions more than service to others.

Heresay is the killer of what could be positive relationships. Shun it.

Consider whether the problem isn’t who, where, or what you’ve been led to believe it is.

Think for yourself.

SUNDAY THOUGHTS: POETRY PROMPT

BAD GRIEF

I’m noticing possessiveness

That’s faking as concern

A sick sense of entitlement

So easy to discern

The bullying is obvious

Manipulative, too

The motivation’s selfish

The gossip isn’t new

I see the desperate sabotage

The arrogance? Well known.

The plans to hinder and divide

Claim power as their own

Wouldn’t it be easier

To work in harmony?

Why the strife; the bickering

The animosity?

How far they’ll go, I just don’t know

But every day it seems

They dig, to find the smallest fault

To justify their schemes

To prove others’ incompetence

And cause distrust, and doubt

To reclaim lost positions

And push their rivals out

I wonder if it’s possible

That they are so consumed

With causing such confusion

They can’t see the gaping wound

They’ve wrought in their community

It’s infecting them the most

Shady dealings glaring

About which they used to boast

In their grief, they truly think

Their actions are for good

In their haste, they cause more waste

Than a fool ever would

They’re on a path, it seems,

To bring the whole enterprise down

Simply because they’ve lost control

And allies can’t be found

To maintain biz as usual

Ban accountability

Sweep shady stuff under the rug

And shun transparency

They’d rather see the whole thing fail

Than simply step aside

And give others a chance to lead

To manage, and preside

It’s wise to just avoid the fray

One must preserve one’s peace

Besides, the nonsense won’t last long

As proved by history

What’s happening is nothing new

Neither is the fate

Of those who sow seeds of discord

And operate in hate.

SUNDAY THOUGHTS: TELEVISION

“…so please remember, when I leave in December, I told you so in May”

“Learning deeply about your roots, can be a source of strength.”
