THURSDAY THOUGHTS: INTEGRITY

Wait.
What?
You were just listening? You knew the information was false, skewed, or wrong?
You didn't shut it down? You didn't speak up?
You didn't challenge it? You perceived it to be harmless chatter?

Were you afraid?
What motivated you to turn a blind eye to, or staunchly defend a lie? Was there a relationship, reward, standard, or opportunity to preserve? How strong is any alliance if you can't, or won't be direct or honest? Or, could it be that you agreed with and repeated what you heard, without bothering to investigate the other side?
Did what you heard fit your narrative, or align with your preferred estimation of a thing?
Aren't you worried that, by entertaining, defending, and excusing a liar, your turn at being deceived and/ or thrown under the proverbial bus will surely come? You should be.

You, nor your reputation are safe in the company of a dishonest person--ever. The worst person to be deceived by, is someone on whose behalf you serve—someone to whom you have been loyal.

Never claim to empathize with a liar--especially when you know the truth. Doing so makes you complicit in, and supportive of the lie, and renders you untrustworthy.

You cannot be on the side of truth and falsehood at the same time. You just can't.
Pick a face.
