QUARANTINE LIFE: POLITICS

They get a little bit, and then they take it to the other side

Forget a little bit about the part of them that’s hard to hide

As far away from their own as their legs can take ‘em, there they go

In trouble, they come running back to people they said they don’t know

It stands to reason, if the good that’s lifted up is never you

And all you see makes you believe your enemy loves what you do

You’ll find yourself in a state where denial is the way

In which you cry and justify all that you do and say

And once entrenched, it’s hard to see the power of the lie

And even harder to decide on whom you can rely

Since none will make it easy to come back into the fold

Lest deceit and hatred meet where hearts are closed and cold

Once sterling reputations can’t be freed of the great stench

Of wallowing with snakes and dogs void of intelligence

No matter what, a change of heart and mind won’t garner grace

When squandered opportunities to do right are replaced

By stunts to make folks think they didn’t see all that they saw

Or conclude the sad truth that some are above the law
