Why leave the peaceful places
And go where rage resides
Why do we turn our backs on love
To stare hate in its eyes
Why not just remain where comfort reigns
Where arms embrace and hold
Why try again where warmth is scarce
And hearts are always cold?

Stay in Ostend
Where they don't know who you are
But love you anyway
Stay in Ostend
Breathe the air, make new friends
They'll all be happy if you stay

Why do we keep on trying
Just to be slapped in the face?
Nothing we do there is good enough
But here, we'll be embraced
There we're hated and resented
Just for shining light so bright
Why cross back over bitter waters
Why go back into the night?

Where your mind is clear
The things you hear bring healing to your soul
Stay in Ostend
Let the waters cool, refresh you
Let your beauty be restored

Stay and dance the way you want
No one will judge the way you move

Stay and sing where all they see and hear is joyfulness and love
Stay and learn, and run, and play where being you's not frowned upon
