QUARANTINE LIFE: POETRY PROMPT---NOW, I SEE WHY

Now, I see why

Things aren't better than they've ever been

You're invested in maintaining

The state that we're in

Now, I see why

You have no words of comfort to give

You could care less how your actions
Cause others to live

Now, I see why
You’re mad when things are destroyed

Things mean more to you; When people die, you're never annoyed

Now, I see why
You can't stand up for justice and peace

Doing so, demands acknowledging humanity

Now, I see why
Oh no, you can't hide
The truth ain't in you
And now I see why
Now, I see why
Enough of you, and your lies
The whole world is tired
And now I see why

Now, I see why
You think you should be heavily armed

It's not might—
You’re  scared of all of the people you've harmed

Now, I see why
You tell yourself you're better than me

Your guilty conscience won't free you of iniquity

Now, I see why
There’s trouble behind your closed doors

Seeds of destruction you've sown, grew to strangle what's yours

Now, I see why
There’s  no rest for you a single day

With all you've stolen, you know one day, you're gonna pay

Now, I see why
Oh no, you can't hide
The truth ain't in you
And now I see why
Now, I see why
Enough of you and your lies
The whole world is watching
And now I see why

Now, I see why
You point fingers at people like me

Deception's your ally; Lying is your currency

Now, I see why
When backed into corners, you lie

Mocking the tears of those you've victimized

Now, I see why
You’ll sell your soul to defend a fool

Turn a blind eye when you know what he's doing is cruel

Now, I see why
You’re so silent in the face of wrong

Enjoy the payoff, just know that it won't last for long

Now, I see why
Oh no, you can't hide
The truth ain't in you
And now I see why
Now, I see why
Enough of you and your lies
The whole world is waiting
And now I see why
