QUARANTINE LIFE: FLASHBACK FRIDAY --ART MATTERS

“...I was alone.
I was alone like anybody else in my shade, who was not fully understood; whited out by history—exactly what I was supposed to be...
Self-taught, third generation.
I just believed that any book I picked up was information that was supposed to be absorbed...
I’m gloriously a nerd, and I am loving it!...

I learned, artists are not politicians.
I learned that, to be a vessel is way more important, but if you have a price tag on anything of your work, it is almost like having a price tag on your soul.
So, you’d better make sure that what you’re selling your piece for is sustainable in your mind long after the sale, because you don’t want the wrong person to own your soul...

For everyone else, they wanted to sell.
I wanted participants...
Community is important...
I’m backed by every community I go to...
I’ve been rewarded ten-fold for at least being decent, where I watch people constantly thinking it was about money, image or power...
I took another route—directly to the consumer.
I went directly to the people with whom I could be my honest, most true, most loving self.

What makes a good market? Again: It’s THE COMMUNITY; the people; the interaction; the median income of that area...
Everybody has a ground level.

Have a good attitude. Get up and work for yourself like you’ve worked for everybody else for 20, 30, 40 years.
You’ve got to know your value.
You’ve a vessel.
You can make more...”
