THE CANDIDATES
Or enriching themselves?
Are their own likes and wants
Filling cupboards and shelves?
ARE they the best reps
As so many insist
Or do they talk the good game
Of opportunists?
Are they selling you out
As they build for their own?
Once installed, are they still
The good people you’ve known?
Are the things they relay
On public forum floors
The same things they say
Behind private, closed doors?
When they speak of “The People”
Does that include you?
Will they care how their actions
Affect what you do?
Are their promises solid
Or merely antics
Is Justice just not welcome in politics?
Why is there rarely an obvious choice
When the lesser of two evils
Uses its voice
To support what’s contemptible, wrong, and unfair
Indecision and apathy pollute the air
History repeated; integrity lost
While those harmed and impacted
Are counting the cost…
