QUARANTINE LIFE: COMPETENCE

That humble smile is speaking volumes.
We all know what those looks mean.
I could almost hear my Auntee Lillian: “Po’ thing. Don’t pay them no mind, Baby. They don’t know no better.”

Their bigotry, hatred, sexism, anger and frustration have nowhere to hide. It’s oozing out with every lie and gotcha question. It’s in their eyes and body language. Racism is in their pores.

None of their aggression is new to Black women. They’re hoping she’ll stumble or lose her composure so that they can say she’s angry or unhinged. They know she’s OVER qualified. That’s just too hard to accept considering who they’ve endorsed.

Judge Jackson can see through them as they try to smear and rattle her, and grasp for straws, and it’s driving them nuts that she’s not ratchet or incompetent— or that their failed coup means they’ll never sit in her seat. They’ve destroyed their own reputations and legacies, and are infuriated that they can’t tarnish hers. CRT? Yes. She exudes competence, righteousness, and truth.

I wonder if they know how fortunate they are that she was taught to be polite and respectful?

It must be exhausting being questioned by those who don’t have a fraction of her experience, integrity, intelligence, knowledge, or grace. Her patience and restraint is commendable. She ‘s quite secure. Words DO hurt, but none of them will stick. They can only try to intimidate her, but they don’t hold a candle to her. What they think about her won’t diminish her one bit.

She’ll do well to keep swatting down their stupid questions like a judicial Dkembe Mutombo.

Proverbs is right. No sense getting her hands dirty trying to make sense of their ranting.

“Do not speak to a fool, for he will despise the wisdom of your words.” ~Proverbs 24:9

“Don't answer a fool according to his foolishness, or you will be just like him.” ~Proverbs 26:4

“Jesus never responded to foolish and captious questions in the way that the questioner hoped and desired. He put them by, or gave an unexpected turn to them which silenced the adversary.” ~Pulpit Commentary
