Why shouldn't I be anything but civil?
Why should I be any other way?
Why be saddled with fake pleasantries and drivel?
Why fear saying what I truly want to say?
There's a level of kindness I’ll show everyone
Just because they’ve a pulse that I detect
Neither status, nor fame, nor an often dropped name
Has any bearing on who I will respect
But when it comes to granting access, or time
There’s a boundary that surely must be laid
I know now, more than ever, how I value joy
And the peaceful, safe haven I have made...
