If ever I’m being critical
Unnecessarily judgmental
Remind me of all that you’ve done to cover me.
If ever I’m being lazy
My memory, selectively hazy
Just kindly nudge me right back to reality
Help me recall the times
When you, said, “I’ve got this”
Swept trouble, grief, doubt, and stress away
You knew I’d make a mess
And made quick work of my distress
Cleaned my slate, and
Graced me with quite peaceful days
If ever I get impatient
Feel weary, or get complacent
Remind me, Grace kicked in, when I had not a clue
If ever I get it twisted
That some other power did this
Position me, so I have no choice but to see you
There’s a whole lot going on
But I can say, with certainty
You have always cleared and made a path for me
So if I can return the kindness
To someone else who can’t decide if
Up’s down, or down is up
A helping hand, I’ll be
