Either the world got comfortable, was just over it, tired of talking about it, stubborn, arrogant, or in denial.
Something that never left, ended, was buried, nor lost steam, might be offended by being characterized as “making a comeback” or “on the rise”.
Good thing Covid doesn’t have feelings.
