QUARANTINE LIFE: TUESDAY THOUGHTS

If the sign on the door advertises one thing, but potential customers enter and find everything EXCEPT that thing, of course they’ll either leave, or make do with a substitute. It doesn’t mean they no longer desire the original thing they were looking for, or want to settle for less. They will continue to pursue what they want. Maybe it will find them! What they won’t do is allow themselves to be tricked by false advertising at that establishment again.

People tend to accept some things because they don’t know any better, don’t feel they have a choice, or never read, study, test, or investigate for themselves. They often believe the sign on the door.

The establishment that makes excuses for having everything else except what it SAYS it sells, but still expects people to shop there, is awfully presumptuous. It needs to check its business practices; mind who it employs; stop misrepresenting who or what established it; address contradictory habits and inconsistencies; and embrace integrity. It must face the real reasons why people stop patronizing.

Only if it is guilty of impropriety will it seek to shame, judge, or criticize people for being dissatisfied and taking their business elsewhere.

What’s the problem with people actually seeking and finding what they’re looking for—authenticity, quality, safety, excellence?

Once they find it, no one should be bothered that they’re happy, and don’t miss what neither served nor satisfied them.

When what’s inside is inconsistent with what’s on the label, you have several choices:

1. Stop consuming.

2. Throw it away.

3. Continue consuming, but don’t complain.

4. Continue consuming,  but lower your standards and expectations.

5. Improve upon it.

6. Make your own.
