It’s amazing how they tried to play in your face!
A decision was already made!
By the time your interest, or input was sought
Certain players were already paid!
They already knew who would divvy the spoils
They’d cemented that scheme, long ago
To thwart being transparent, or showing their hand
They conveniently waited, you know
‘Til it was much too late for fairness
Or, to answer the questions you’d raise
As to why there’s poor representation—or none
And how things have devolved to this phase
Why was every voice not included?
After all, wouldn’t they bear the cost?
Could it be that there were vast resources to share?
Could it be that some details were lost?
The final report was a waving, red flag
And why it certainly feels
That a handful seized seats, and perks for themselves
And their minions were right on their heels
It was all so predictable, even a fool
Could see clearly how it would conclude
The pretense, as if they were playing by rules
The fake empathy? It was just rude.
It’s funny how they tried to play in your face!
As if you couldn’t see through the ploy
Or discern why they’re eerily quiet, right now
And will break their slick necks to avoid
Having to look you in the eye
And explain how they, so easily
Relayed conflicting info, characterized
By sheer nerve, and dishonesty
Ridiculous notions; last-minute concoctions
They knew would exclude, and offend
Correspondence, so void of respect or regard
No one with a conscience would send
There was never a thought to accommodate all
That’s the truth they don’t want you to know
But, have you considered, the paths that they’ve blocked
Are the last ones on which you should go?
They can only keep trying to play in your face
And pretend there’s still business to tend
But it’s obvious, you should just promptly delete
The next round of nonsense they send
That looks like a call to action, at first
But is merely a slap in the face—
A cruel game, to keep everyone tethered and paying
While watching the clique take up space
Yours looked like an invitation
Theirs tells them that they’ve scored a win
As with all shady dealings, though, tables do turn
Don't be fooled. There’s no “in” to be in.
There's no "us", no "we", no "community"
Just hustlers, with fame on their minds
Eager to cash in, and be the new face
Of what others have left behind
