QUARANTINE LIFE: WEDNESDAY THOUGHTS

There’s always a reason why obvious omissions occur.

Sometimes it’s no accident. It’s deliberate, petty, or malicious. Other times it’s sheer ignorance, haste, or inaccessibility.

Inquiring “Who’s in charge?”, “Who did they ask?”, or simply following the money, might give you some insight on why, what seems like missed opportunities and slights happen—over and over again.

Either way, what looks like a slight, or slap in the face, gets people talking, researching, googling, sharing, and asking questions about those whose absence was a disappointment.

Relevance matters.

Discerning people aren’t generally quiet about who they think should have been “there”, “on”, mentioned, or shown. Some things and people are sure to add value, knowledge, facts, talent, anecdotes, truth, and lived experiences to a thing, but are left out, erased, overlooked, not invited, consulted, nor included.

There is always a contingent, however, who wont LET you forget certain people, facts, or bodies of work. They wont allow you to snub pioneers, trailblazers, originators, groundbreakers, creators, or the geniuses behind a thing—especially if they’re still alive, and well able to communicate.

Information is everywhere these days, and if people want to know more (or the real deal), they’ll find a way. They’ll seek out the comprehensive, as opposed to the abridged, the original as opposed to the print or cover, and the actual document, as opposed to a copy.

They’ll revive the truth, remind, enlighten, and educate a new generation—and may even produce something themselves to fill in the woefully weird blanks, and right those curiously suspicious wrongs.

A community can’t lament how indifferently others handle its history or heroes, if it isn’t thorough or conscientious in its handling and presentations of its own stories.
