QUARANTINE LIFE: THURSDAY THOUGHTS

The power's back on. It's strange that there was no snow, rain, or wind yesterday evening, when everything went black, as I was enjoying an airing of "Carmen Jones".

It occurred to me that a random power outage was my only problem, and I suddenly felt grateful.

Yesterday had been unseasonably warm.

While I comfortably slept, however, a war was declared.
You have to desire a special place in Hell to deliberately add to the pain, losses, and stress already existing as a result of the pandemic.

Why is it always the people who have so much; who could do so much good with the resources they possess; who could be living amazing, peaceful lives, yet they choose to be the purveyors of suffering and chaos?
It's fascinating how one person can cause so much trouble--and then dare anybody to oppose them.

We can't talk about what's going on "over there", when we have the same kinds of "leaders" and enablers right here. America has no moral standing. She has a history of stealing land, disenfranchising and displacing people, and destroying families and communities. She can't seriously police, or promote Democracy, truth, and justice in the world, because she seems unable or unwilling to honestly examine herself, acknowledge and truthfully teach her History, right wrongs, and handle her own criminals in high places.

What's happening "over there" is courtesy of help and encouragement from people who are walking around free, and occupying some of the highest offices in the land right here. Remember January 6th? And now, convoys are on the way to disrupt traffic on the Beltway? Who's paying for that foolishness?

Something CAN be done.
Something could have been done. It’s not like the conversation hasn’t been going on for eons. It’s not like warnings, red flags, and tweets haven’t been flying.
The question is, who is benefiting from the trouble and destruction?
It's not the soldiers who are fighting these ego-driven, greed-inspired wars, and certainly not the pandemic-weary citizens who are currently wondering where they can go to be safe.
If the power-hungry, here or there, were paying any attention to history, they’d know it never ends well for them.

"How can we heal the wounds of the world if we cannot heal our own? Where does this peace on Earth begin...?"
