What if you killed the person who could have cured your Cancer?
Hobbled the person who could have walked you to the answers
You’ve desperately tried to find?
What if you hung the person who could have offered the solution
To every ill and evil; every revolution
That destroyed soul, body, and mind?
What if you terrified the one who would have spoken freely
Closed your eyes and said “I just don’t see what they see”
Worked hard to keep the status quo
What if you looked away as men and women slept in the streets
Rather see them die, than lift a hand to offer relief
Will you reap the grief you sow?
What if you beat the person who could have taught what Love is?
Stole from those who could have helped you build a bridge
To the Promise Land you seek?
What if you ridiculed every wise and timely warning
Oppressed and harassed those consumed by mourning
Would that make you strong, or weak?
What if you left behind those who could have mapped the way
Feared brilliant minds, and had them locked away
Only to find you’re still not safe?
What if you raped the one who would have gladly nurtured others
Damaged souls that now see enemies not brothers
Shouldn’t you be afraid?
What if you victimized everyone who wasn’t like you
Sought revenge against those who never sought to fight you
Rejected every useful tool
What if you kicked out those who would have proudly been your army
Slandered those who would have helped in your time of need
You’d be a coward and a fool.
