Something can be done.
Thoughts and prayers mean we haven’t totally shut down; we still have the capacity to empathize with strangers who are mourning. We aren’t completely desensitized.
Assault weapons and ammunition could be banned and seized (or even swapped for cash) in a heartbeat if the urgency and will was there. Why is there such opposition to at least lessening the chance of these acts of hate and terror? Have people been taught to plan for war? Why are these weapons so easy to buy?
