QUARANTINE LIFE: EATS

I thought back to one of many childhood summer trips to Louisiana. I remembered asking my late Aunt Lillian if I could go to the corner store. She asked what I wanted. “Potato chips”, I answered. “Oh, you don’t need to go to the store and spend money on potato chips. I have potatoes here!” My disappointment would be brief. I’ll never forget how she proceeded to heat Crisco in a Club aluminum skillet, slice a few large potatoes, then drop them one by one into the hot oil. They were better than anything I would have purchased.

I decided to save a few dollars today, too.
