QUARANTINE LIFE: THE PRICE OF BEAUTY

Throughout the lock-down, the landscape crews have been consistent.
Like clockwork, since March, even on those sweltering 90+ degree days, and rainy days, they’ve mowed, pruned, watered, fertilized, and kept the neighborhood beautiful.
Trees and flowers have bloomed and re-bloomed, and for many of us, the beauty and change of season was admired and enjoyed from the inside.

Through no fault of its own, there’s something sinister and suspicious now about the spraying, though. It seemed quite harmless before. I ever even gave it a thought. It conjures up images of streets being sanitized, early on in the pandemic, and repeated law firm/ legal helpline commercials about the danger of Roundup weed killer.

One can’t help but wonder what’s the price of beauty. What exactly is in that tank, how safe is it for the workers handling it, and what, other than weeds, or bugs is being eradicated?

Maybe it’s nothing.

Maybe it’s just another baseless reason (or excuse) not to get up and go outside and get a little sunshine.
