Why won't somebody do something?
Is there none with authority?
Their positions and titles mean nothing
They're as baffled as you and me
Every day, they're appalled and outraged
Highlight issues for us to read
And we ask "Why won't you do something?
Stop whining and tweeting, and lead!"
Beginning to see no distinction
Both sides are exactly alike
Each one childishly blaming the other
While citizens take up the fight
Many suffer while they take vacations
No thought of their promise to serve
Dollar signs in their eyes block compassion
Their own interests are what they preserve
They see the same evil that we see
They repeat what the ignorant say
As if it wasn't dumb when first uttered
All they do is talk every day
Why can't somebody do something?
Is there no one left who we can trust?
Their positions and titles are useless
"Somebody" will have to be US.
