Before Barney, Andy, the Darlings tricked Ernest T. Bass into thinking he was marrying Charlene, Stan and Oliver tricked Silas Barnaby into thinking he was marrying Bo Peep.
Classic TV is always a nice diversion from COVID-19 news, but it’s interesting how art imitates life; how eerily relevant the story lines and dialogue can be.
“Christmas in the middle of July?”
The pandemic has hit Americans hard. So many people are fearing eviction due to loss of income, and not only suffer out-of-touch representatives in government, but unsympathetic landlords like the one portrayed by actor Henry Brandon in Laurel and Hardy’s “March of the Wooden Soldiers”.
As in the movies, greedy, unscrupulous people, who seem to enjoy the suffering of others, trouble, and evil, seem to be winning for a while, but genuine help from unlikely heroes always saves the day.
