QUARANTINE LIFE: RACISM IS SIN

Another generation of African American children are hearing “The Speech”, while racism is being minimized and likened to a birth defect.

Racism is a structural change agent.
It affects how a body works.
It is an anomaly.
It is a blemish, a flaw, a fault.
It can be mild or severe, but those are the ONLY instances where racism can even remotely be likened to a birth defect.
Birth defects are rare, random, and unexpected.
They aren’t taught, encouraged, welcomed, defended, celebrated, romanticized, plotted, legalized, planned, funded, ignored, or vigorously fought for.
When birth defects appear, they aren’t reclassified as something they are not.

Efforts are made to study and eradicate anything that causes great pain, harm, destruction to the quality of life. Racism, however, is so proudly flaunted; so deeply ingrained; so flippantly excused; so willfully and ignorantly embraced, that it has been deemed mental illness. That, too, is dead wrong and an insult to the mentally ill who are not in control of their impulses or actions. Racists know what they’re doing, and bear no shame or remorse.

Racism is pure, undiluted, evil, immoral soul sickness.
It is demonic.
It flies in the face of everything a Holy God is, and represents.
Failure to see how hating others so deeply that you ignore their humanity to the degree that you DELIBERATELY abuse, murder, cheat, steal, rape, and lie with impunity— and then teach it all to your children— is wholly EVIL.
There is no way to cushion racism.
It, as with any other sin, must be confessed and abandoned, not justified, denied, or rationalized.

Children learn what they live.
It is never easy or pleasant to see, learn about, or know the sins of one’s ancestors or elders, but at some point, one is responsible for what one thinks, believes, does, and re-teaches.
Racism exists because it was, and is wanted, needed, accepted, and preferred.
It is profitable.
It’s origins are rooted in inhumanity, ignorance, greed, selfishness, and self-righteousness.

An individual has to want to change; want to know, and do better. There is, however, a payoff for allowing racism to thrive.
To that, the Bible asks, “What does it profit a man to gain the whole world, and lose his soul?”
Just as sure as a racist believes in God and Heaven, how can he or she not be equally as sure that there is a Hell?
How can he or she not realize the level of cunning and deception that is in operation?
Racism costs racists their spiritual, mental, emotional, financial, and physical lives, and they’re so busy hating and scheming they can’t even see it.

Too many people—Christian people—who, if they’ve read even a corner of the Bible, ought to know better, try awfully hard to gloss over the truth of racism’s existence, or ignore it altogether.
They try to assuage their inherited guilt, say tone deaf, churchy, ignorant stuff, and protect the very sin they say they hate.
Instead of fostering healing, they continually show just how racist they really are.

Racism is sin, and when faced with a decision concerning it, as with other preferred, temporarily profitable vices, too many don’t want to let go.
It’s been too good to them.
Sadly, they’re blinded to how damaging it has been FOR them.
