TRUTH IS A TREASURE written 2/7/2008

It is raining and I'm loving it. Thunder and all. I thought I would just get a glass of water and go to bed. As I walked it the words, "Truth is a treasure" came to mind. All I could do was smile and praise God.

Knowing the truth makes what's supposed to be an impossibly difficult road, look like a water slide. The truth keeps your eyes open. Keeps your chin up. Keeps your smile on. Helps you look directly into the face of your issues, large and small and never blink. Allows you to walk boldly into places you weren't supposed to be able to show your face. Truth is a treasure! It doesn't just set you free, it makes you free. Truth is amazing. It really is.

I haven't lost a pound, but I sure do feel lighter. Like the rain that's falling, truth has a specific purpose and, depending on your outlook, it can be a blessing or a problem. I can either look at the rain as a cleanser or a destroyer. I can look at truth as an enlightening, comforting force or an indictment.

A person can sit in a jail cell for years, and the truth of his or her innocence can keep them from falling apart. It can keep their hope for freedom alive. It can dispel everything anyone thinks, feels, believes or says. It bowls over circumstances and supposed evidence. It silences gossip and innuendo. When you know the truth, even when others try to spin things in their favor, cover their tracks, switch up on you, change their tunes, or develop a convenient form of amnesia, truth allows you to continue in your walk- poised, confident, sure, unhindered, and contented.

Others wait for your meltdown. It's a sick pleasure for some, but a pleasure nonetheless. Others wait to see what you're made of, (and don't you dare think they're not watching). God has already covered that. He won't let you fall into the hands of those waiting for your demise. It won't happen- especially when His glory is at stake.

People (and we are famous for doing all kinds of interesting things), have the audacity to try and dismiss and demean you if you don't jump through their hoops, bow, or reverence them. God's not having it. You know the truth. People try to mete out their own brand of punishment, and go so far as to imply that your blessing, if you ever get one, is a result of their doing. God is probably getting a good chuckle out of that.

Perhaps today, your adversary was sure that what you saw, heard, or experienced would surely knock you off of your foundation. Perhaps the last test in your life was designed to be the one to break you for sure. Perhaps the sting of your last disappointment came from a highly unlikely source--a source so unexpected that, were it not for your own relationship with God, you might have to rethink your religion. Perhaps you even identified ,for yourself, the thing that would be the death of you if it ever happened (or happened again). Then truth rises up and lifts your head, eases your mind, clears your thoughts, and comforts your heart. No need to fight back. No need to retaliate. No need to defend. No need to go on blast. No need to ask questions or demand answers. God walks you through His word and lets you see the whole thing that was supposed to be the last straw. You realize it was a set up-- and not even a brilliant one.

Truth is a treasure. Take heart. You are neither deceived, crazy, misled or confused. Your adversary would have you to be in a constant state of panic and paranoia. He's after what you have, can't get it, and is infuriated. Hang on to the truth. Not your truth or someone else's, but THE truth. Not your spin or take on the matter. Not your opinion. Not your estimation or evaluation based on what you imagine the facts to be. Knowing the truth and having it on your side, is priceless.

God moved today and blew my mind! He is my helper and defender. He is the supplier of all of my needs. He knows what's best for me.

Test over...Still breathing.....Thank You, Jesus...Next...

Now I'm going to do what Gramma used to do, and feeling a little weird that I didn't do it sooner---turn off all the stuff running on 'lectricity....
