The tales of you, that others tell
And goad us to believe
Explain the shade that many throw
While patently deceived
The judgments made; conclusions drawn
Have no basis in truth
And often end in arguments
And fighting, nail and tooth
But every now and then,
Discernment lifts its timely head
Centers right; stops the fights
And promotes truth, instead
You need not fret; dirty your hands
Or fear what others think
Don’t dare succumb to anyone’s
Aim to make your heart sink
Truth has a way of righting wrongs
And handling what was meant
To steal your joy, break, and destroy
And leave you discontent
Who you are, is known, by far
By those who truly care
Despite the cruel pronouncements
Of those so unaware
Whose words, like weapons;
Thoughts, like arrows
Have great ability
To wound without a reason why
And erase empathy
If, like you, they only knew
That grace won’t always chide
They’d cease the way they
Slay, oppress, and cast others aside
