Picking up where you left off is fine, if what was interrupted, or postponed was appealing, productive, profitable, pleasant, stress-free, or important.
Maybe, before the pandemic began, you convinced yourself it (whatever IT is), WAS harmless or acceptable. Maybe you did go along just to be cooperative or polite. Your usual consent, however, spawned expectations, impressions, conclusions, or assumptions.
Perhaps it’s time to be better to, and more honest with yourself.
You are perfectly free to change your mind, and make choices that don’t bore, grieve or overwhelm you. Your awareness can be heightened. Your standards can raise. You can do, and consume, and support what you actually like. Stir up your own gifts. Pursue your own interests. Make your own plans.
You can decide not to welcome whatever was crowding your pre-pandemic plate. No more fake enthusiasm or interest. You don’t have to do everything, or be everywhere. You can be productive, not just busy. You can have something substantial to show for your efforts.
Your “No” can be delivered without hesitation, fear, or regret.
There’s been a considerable amount of time to think, reevaluate, and examine stuff.
Yep. YOU’VE changed. You’ve grown.
Being “brand new” isn’t the snarkily uttered insult that some intend it to be, when they can no longer monopolize or waste your time, or use your skills, or resources for their benefit.
You are not averse to being charitable; you still have a heart for volunteerism, and worthy causes.
What you ARE is no longer tolerant of being bullied, manipulated, mishandled, overworked, devalued, or used.
THAT, my friend, is a good thing.
