Who will stop you from making a spectacle of yourself?
Who will caution you about your choices?
Who will question your actions?
Who will lovingly correct you?
Everyone can’t just go along to get along. Followers and fans, could become so, but they aren’t usually genuine friends.
It shouldn’t take boldness or bravery to tell you “no”. People shouldn’t have to wonder if being around you means risking or losing their credibility, credentials, reputations, or lives.
Being in your circle shouldn’t be stress inducing, or cause for questioning one’s wisdom or sanity. There’s loyalty, and then there’s stupidity.
Everyone has choices to make. No one can force anyone do anything. It’s the consequences that make people fear making choices in their own best interest— like severing ties with fools, bullies, tyrants, busybodies, abusers, users, and other brands of toxicity.
You have to know that others stick around because they want to, not because they’re afraid, stuck, beholden, waiting for, or depending on a payoff.
It’s a sad day when you exhaust the people around you who‘ve been consistent, faithful, and caring. Even if they’re dedicated employees, it’s an even sadder day when you cross the line with dizzying levels of selfishness and inconsideration, and brazenly communicate that their health and well-being don’t matter.
