QUARANTINE LIFE: RIP, BOB SHAW

StudioHouse North on South Dakota Avenue in NE, DC was the location of my first recording experience. There, I met engineers Bob Shaw and Brad Baerwald.
You could see the house from South Dakota Avenue, but to enter you had to know how to access the back way.
Once inside, two very unassuming gentlemen, surrounded by beautiful instruments and (at the time) state of the art equipment, greeted you with a smile.
The experience opened my eyes to the importance of prioritizing, investing, and reinvesting in one’s business.
Every trip there was fun; Bob would have acquired a new “toy”.

He was committed to giving Christian singers and musicians a place to make their music live.
It was fascinating watching the process; how music went from recording to a tangible album; how closely DMV musicians and singers collaborated—and that mikes don’t lie.

RIP, Bob Shaw.

The air, the rain, the breeze... it’s been a good day... well...except for the gigantic wasp.

QUARANTINE LIFE: SWAY

Interesting press conference.
I thought the good doctor was gonna sway himself into a Negro spiritual. I guess it’s hard to stand still when you’re tired of the incompetence, gaslighting, mixed messages, and are anxious to tell the truth. His nonverbal communication skills are strong. Those eyes... I imagined every blink meant, “Lie. Don’t you believe it.”
He didn’t have to speak for long, but what he said was enough. The pandemic isn’t over. Anxiety is understandable. What one person does affects another. Vulnerable people matter. Be the solution, not the problem.
