QUARANTINE LIFE: THE BETTER BAG BILL

The fact that I was surprised when the pleasant cashier asked, “Would you like a bag?”, let me know how few times I actually go to a store. It had been a long time since I’d carried a bag in my arms. “Apparently, you voted for this”, the cashier laughed.

Well, the sturdy-looking paper bag made it to my door before it disintegrated into a heap. It was as if it was learning how to be a bag again after being overlooked for so many years, and playing second fiddle to plastic.

I mean, it ripped itself from my arms, as if to say, “I’m sorry. This is as far as I can go”.

Clearly, it’s not a “better bag”. Some of the boxes are a little weak, too. I’m all for protecting the environment, though.

My response to having to pick up my purchases from the floor, is to make sure I have a reusable bag with me when I go out. Right now, I should just collect every one I have stashed in the collection accumulated during the pandemic, and put them in the trunk of my car. Don’t laugh. You know you have a drawer or closet designated for bags at your house, too.

The “Better Bag Bill” inspired me to visit cafepress and create my own. Here’s a couple of them.

Who said a bag has to be boring?
