QUARANTINE LIFE: POETRY PROMPT---SO LONG, SUMMER

It’s there, but barely shining

Not nearly as blinding, today

Somewhere, though, it beams brightly

Like it did just yesterday

It didn’t move— we did

It’s still holding its place

Someone said it’s always behind us

Soon it’s warmth will be but a trace

To embrace it, go where it is

Or resign to await our return

Appreciate the sudden changes

Notice how much there is to learn

Today, it’s light’s just enough

To distinguish it from night

No longer oppressive and rough

It appears Summer’s fading from sight
