QUARANTINE LIFE: REMEMBERING DAD

Dad would have celebrated his 96th birthday today.

He would have been happy getting a silly/humorous greeting card, and a serious one (“Sweetened” would have been even better, and when the money fell out, he’d lapse into his best Kingfish impression: “Well, hello there…”), a coconut cake, a gag gift of Reese’s peanut butter cups, and strawberry soda, or a catfish dinner at his favorite, Accokeek Seafood…A new shirt and tie, a watch, or sharp dress shoes were always a hit, too.

That he lived 91 years always amazed him. The older he got, the gift he treasured most was just being alive—and what a wonderful life he lived.

Rest In Peace, Sir.

Happy Birthday.
