QUARANTINE LIFE: POETRY PROMPT---ELDERS

ELDERS

All of their voices are stilled now

But, everything they said, remains

And I can pick and choose the wisest of it all

To join the gratitude my heart contains

For all they were to me

And find endless reasons to smile

How would they handle this trying time?

With grace and patience, I'm sure

Waxing philosophically

Sheltering in place, just like me?

Perhaps, but with no fear

You see, they'd weathered so much more

With elegance and style
