What is this feverish campaign to keep people in the dark?

What is it that people don't want you to know, and why not?

It's often because they're afraid if the people they've dismissed or mishandled are ever armed with certain incriminating or embarrassing information, a power shift will occur, and their charade will be over. They're afraid that truthful information will be used to do to them what their eager lying and slander did to others.

You can always tell when something lauded as perfect, indestructible, and enviable; something that's been used to needle, hurt, or oppress others is on the skids. As quiet as people want to keep it, when a kingdom is crumbling, it's loud, the news travels, and it sends the haughty scrambling to save face.

People get mighty defensive when they anticipate a wave of retaliation. They wax philosophical, declare their humanity, break out scripture, and post manipulative platitudes to defend against the dragging, and silence the laughter they know is coming.

They don't consider their actions in order to correct themselves, they just want grace, sympathy, and preferential treatment. They know that what goes around has a tendency to come back around with a vengeance.

It's kind of funny how those who run their mouths the most, and always have a self-righteous finger pointing at someone else, can't handle it when the tables are turned. They ridicule, judge, and taunt when other people have troubles or failures, but are the first to cry foul when they get a taste of their own medicine. They don't like being criticized or exposed, and break their necks to conspire and make sure certain people don't find out what's falling apart on their street. They're so afraid of the payback they've earned as a result of the compassion they lack. They should be. They're the first to try to hide their mess, lie about the details, demand discretion from everybody, and expect privacy. In doing so, they only draw more attention to themselves-- and their hypocrisy.

There are those who should thank God that the urging to gloat isn't in everyone's heart. They should be grateful if they're ever shown the mercy and understanding that their arrogance wouldn't allow them to show others when they had the opportunity.

Whether personal, political, or financial, that principle of sowing and reaping is tricky, I tell ya...mighty tricky.
