QUARANTINE LIFE: EATS

As I sliced the Roma tomatoes, my mind wandered back to summers in Plaquemine.
My paternal grandmother had tomato plants flanking the front steps of her house. We'd attach a green, rubber hose to the spigot, sit on the grass (with the salt and pepper shakers) and eat tomatoes as if they were apples.
Going outside to play didn't mean you went hungry at either of my grandmother's homes. There were figs, pecans, cherries, and sugar cane, too.
It was a happy thought.

My tomatoes were delicious, by the way.
Thanks, Amazon Fresh.
