QUARANTINE LIFE: AMERICA THE EMBARRASSED

After years and years of bragging,
She's the greatest of all
Like a drunken Humpty Dumpty,
What is great, is Her fall
Helped along by greed, injustice, and the willfully blind
And the grossest of incompetence one can ever find

It's infuriating what so many fiercely defend
Just how dirty is the dirt that's being held over them?
But like the Sun, breaking through thick, dark clouds right after a storm
Whistleblowers ditched their whistles, and are blowing their horns

For the life of me, I cannot see the sense of it all
The entitled, with their titles, sat and watched it all fall
Either grave delusion, or complicity made it so
But with every passing day, backbones are starting to grow

Every time a voice breaks free from the evil status quo
It redeems the faith that foolishness can't stand to see grow
Somewhere, prayer is going up, "God, mend her every flaw
Let hatred cease, restore the peace,
NO ONE is above the law"

Scales are coming off of eyes that should have never been closed
There's only so much crime that some can just ignore, I suppose
Charred pieces falling off of consciences allowed to be seared
Breaking the dams that held back justice, and kept people in fear

Maybe now, some think this ain't the hill they wanna die on
Every day ignoring truth, defending wrong, after wrong
Maybe they want to be able to explain to their kids
That they took the high road; didn't fold like their colleagues did

People finally deciding that they cannot be bought
Wanting to be on the side of history that they ought
Tired of hearing the collective judgment filling the air
And a global chorus/message for us: "Stay over there!"

Every day a new decision comes to give us all hope
A reprieve from what can only be perceived as a joke
In the chaos, there are still people of principle found
Daily contemplating how to turn this circus around
