QUARANTINE LIFE: FOR YEARS

For years, someone fed you a lie
Now you’re shocked, and can’t believe
The privilege that you perceived
Can’t help at all this time

For years, you’ve shortchanged me, and mine
Today you’re at each other’s throats
Can’t decide what matters most
Now who’s waiting in line?

For years, you thought freedom was free
But when you’re asked to sacrifice
You whine about losing your rights;
Threaten terror and war

For years, you could have stopped it all
Instead you chose to cultivate
Existing seeds of greed and hate
Were they worth fighting for?

For years, mercy waited for you
You’ve shown how little you have learned
Brag about the shame you have earned
Godless through and through

For years, you pushed a fool’s construct
Be wise and take a look around
Each day, new graves in the ground
One may be there for you
