QUARANTINE LIFE: GRATEFUL

In January, I was aboard a cruise ship for 8 days.
It’s a harrowing thought these days.

There I was, just hanging over my balcony taking pictures, and thinking how through I would be with myself if I’d accidentally dropped my phone into the ocean.
I was just chilling...without a care in the world. A deadly, contagious virus spreading on board was the farthest thing from my mind. There was no worry about not being allowed to disembark, getting sick, or facing a global pandemic.

I can’t count how many hugs and handshakes were exchanged. There was no social distancing! Except for the strange rumbling of the ship for a brief moment during Sinbad’s comedy show, I was never worried or afraid.

Mind you, each year, when we arrive in Florida, we have a habit of visiting the nearest grocery or drug store to buy water, wipes, cleaning products, and snacks to take onboard. We learn the “Wash Your Hands” song that’s played and sung on the ship, whether we mean to or not. There’s always green tea, lemons, real ginger, and healthy fruit of every kind.
All day, every day, the crew is cleaning…

In January...JANUARY... like... this past one...I WAS ABOARD A CRUISE SHIP!!!!!
It occurs to me periodically these days, and I’m extremely thankful we made it home safely and well.
