WEDNESDAY THOUGHTS: HAPPY FOURTH!

In the past, I've seriously wondered if the Pentagon was supplying the fireworks around here.
The Mall display has nothing on the spectacles folks have wrought East of the River.

Maybe I'm speaking too soon, but the 4th of July, aka "Escape the Neighborhood Day", "Pray for Rain Day", and "Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Day", when we usually play exciting, non-stop rounds of "Gunshots or Fireworks?", has been considerably quieter this year.
(Wait! What was that?! Stop, drop and roll! Take cover!...)
Maybe the storm had an effect on sales.
Maybe the extreme heat is keeping the peace-destroyers indoors.
Maybe the police and fire departments are being more vigilant about enforcing existing laws.
Who knows.
Should things become unbearable, however, I'll be blogging from peaceful Maryland-- where the lawmakers got it right, (at least where banning explosives is concerned) and where most of the noisemakers, who invade the nearby park-- and any available parking lot-- reside.

Happy Independence Day. Remember, rights and privileges minus responsibility, courtesy, and consideration for others equals abuse.

Last thing, watch the kids...oh, and don't embarrass yourself trying to cross Southern Avenue into PG County with your box(es) of firecrackers in your trunk. It's the first place the officer in the unmarked cruiser will look, Silly.
