SATURDAY THOUGHTS: INSPIRED

Have you ever had one of those days where you have no plans, and don't feel like making any?

The weather abruptly decided that Winter wasn't done, so I wasn't exactly inspired to experience it.

Feeling a little blah, and not exactly looking public-friendly, I had every intention to remain indoors and watch whatever old films were on TV.
Something said, "Get out".
I was inside, and comfortable, but really didn't want to be inside.
Something said, "Poetry; music. Go and listen to some music. You'll feel better".

I was already logged on to my computer, so I searched  Twitter for "poetry".
Not far away, at Oxon Hill Library, Khadijah Moon's Liberated Muse Arts Group would be saluting Maya Angelou and Ruby Dee.
It was 1:30 when I saw the post.
The event was scheduled to begin at 2.
I got discouraged. "You look like a troll and you won't get there on time. Forget it and stay inside."

I don't know where that negative voice came from, but I do believe I embraced speed in a way that is not my usual.
I got myself together, reserved a zipcar, and headed out into the cold.
The 2-block walk to the car was refreshing, and so was the music and poetry.
I've certainly heard music before, but there was something different about today that allowed me not only to hear it, but embrace it.
It was so healing--like a shot in the arm.

One of the songs that resonated was "Natural", a composition by Colette Williams. ( http://www.amazon.com/Natural-Colie-Williams/dp/B00DR4OOI0

It was so wonderful to see women so confident, gracious, and encouraging, and working in such a harmonious way.
I left with a smile on my face.

Sometimes you have to give yourself a little push, and listen to the voice that's promoting the good day that every day can be...: )
